With 45 years of experience, E.E. Reed Construction is a diverse general contractor offering superior professional construction services. Our offices are located in Texas, Virginia, and Georgia.
Edward Eugene “Gene” Reed founded the company in 1977. A decade later, in 1987, Mr. Reed expanded operations to Washington D.C which operates as E.E. Reed East Coast. The company then entered the Austin market as Zapalac/Reed in 1996, and California as Davis/Reed in 2002. Most recently, E.E. Reed Construction expanded into Savannah, Georgia.
Now the company is run by second generation leadership, Mark Reed. Mark is President of E.E. Reed Construction. He has more than 30 years of experience in the industry and is responsible for guiding the company’s strategic direction, vision, and growth.
As a seasoned professional in the construction industry, Mark started working at E.E. Reed when he was sixteen and has held virtually every position in the company. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from Texas A&M University. He is currently active on NAIOP’s National Forum and the Cristo Rey Jesuit Board of Trustees, and he is a LEED Accredited Professional.
E.E. Reed Construction was founded on February 1, 1977. The company’s first job was building cabinets for Holy Family Church. From there, E.E. Reed Construction began its steady march forward.
E.E. Reed East Coast opened its doors in 1987. Located in Herndon, Virginia, and led by veteran construction professional, Doug Peterson, the East Coast office embodies the firm’s core values of family, integrity, dedicated, and innovative.
E.E. Reed Construction was first included in the national ENR Top 400 Contractors List in 1993. E.E. Reed has continued to be a part of this list year each year and has steadily increased in the rankings.
Zapalac/Reed Construction began its operations in Austin, Texas in 1996. Led by President, Bill Zapalac, this team’s efforts produce quality, value, and timeliness in a variety of market sectors.
E.E. Reed Construction has been honored to be a part of HBJ’s Top General Contractors List for more than two decades. Ranked by local gross billings, this list recognizes the top general contractors in Houston.
The NASA privatization project included a 6.2 million-gallon, zero-gravity simulation tank, a supporting control center, medical center, scuba service, and hyperbolic chamber. This significant project serves as a NASA astronaut training facility and has been featured in many movies over the years.
E.E. Reed constructed the corporate headquarters building that still serves as the firm’s office today.
Focused on hotels and multi-family projects, Davis/Reed Construction began in 2002. Davis/Reed’s first office opened in San Diego, CA. They were awarded their first owner contract in 2003 for a high-rise hotel. Today, Davis/Reed operates several offices across the state of California.
E.E. Reed Construction was first recognized on the ENR Top 100 Green Contractor list in 2010. E.E. Reed supports the design of sustainable architecture and has completed construction on 45+ LEED projects. E.E. Reed is proud to have been included on this prestigious list repeatedly since 2010.
Mark Reed launched his career with E.E. Reed in 1992. Much like his father before him, Mark has toiled in virtually every facet of the construction business. Mark has continually honed the skills that have made him one of the region’s leading construction experts.
E.E. Reed Construction celebrated 40 years of business in 2017! E.E. Reed marked this exciting milestone and looks forward to continued success ahead.
While E.E. Reed has worked on corporate interiors projects since its inception, the company formally opened an Interiors division in 2019. Led by Vice President, Scott Crain, E.E. Reed Interiors focuses on renovations, capital improvements, corporate office, and expansions for virtually every market sector.
